The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) has announced a partnership with Baxter Healthcare to provide 50 patient scholarships to attend the AAKP National Convention. The AAKP National Convention takes place September 2-4 in Tampa, FL at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina.

The AAKP National Convention is the largest event of its kind, attracting kidney patients, family members and health care professionals from across the country. This year’s Convention is titled, “Discover – Unite – Take Action” and features an agenda targeting all stages of kidney disease, including chronic kidney disease (CKD), dialysis and transplantation.

“Baxter Healthcare is committed to patient education. It is an organization that believes in the work AAKP is doing - providing patients with the necessary tools to be the leaders of their health care team,” stated AAKP President Carolyn Price. “We are honored Baxter wants to provide 50 patients with this great opportunity.”

The scholarships cover the cost of a Full Convention package which includes three days of educational sessions, a Convention tote bag, souvenir t-shirt, and tickets to the First Time Attendees Luncheon, Welcoming Ceremonies and Annual Banquet.

To apply for a 2010 AAKP Annual Convention Scholarship, please visit www.aakp.org/events/convention/2010/Scholarships. Applications must be received by August 25, 2010. For more information about AAKP and its National Convention call (800) 749-2257 or visit www.aakp.org.

Hi I'm Katy and I run Global Dialysis with Russell England. I am a trained nurse and used to work on the renal transplant unit at St Bartholomew's Hospital.  I've worked in the healthcare world for over 25 years and love it! I enjoy helping people get the right information and the right care and campaign for the needs of patients, their carers and centre staff. I'm passionate about making Global Dialysis the best it can possibly be for dialysis users and their carers across the globe.  I met Russ a few years, actually just by chance, and am so delighted to be working with him here!  I have a son, William (9) and two Jack Russels - Harry and Potter and I enjoy my family, long walks in the countryside and marathon running!
