It says that when folks miss treatments or don't follow their treatment plans, their clinics will lose money. It is against the Medicare rules for a clinic to discharge someone against their will just because they won't follow their treatment plans.
BUT...and this is a BIG but...a doctor can let someone go for any reason they choose. And dialysis clinics are using this to get around the Medicare rule.
Please don't shorten or miss any treatments! With money at stake, your doctor (really your clinic) could let you go--and it would be hard, if not impossible, to find another clinic to take you. Plus, standard in-center hemo is just barely enough dialysis to avoid symptoms of uremia. Getting any less puts your life at risk.
Having up to date reviews is a fantastic way of letting other dialysis users know that a center is of a good quality.
Did three dialysis sessions in November/2010. Nice, clean and staff are very competent. Was in a room for 4 and newer machines, Had no problems. Great staff though English is limited (Doctor and charge nurse spoke mimimum english but enough to get by).
Recommend, close to Botafogo Metro station.
Many thanks to Madd_Maxx59 for taking the time to let us know!
Focus on FMCNA Lowcountry Dialysis, South Carolina
Written by Katy Draper- A town in Beaufort County, South Carolina·
- The famous hurrican scene from Forest Gump was filmed in the harbour!
- The Spanish established a fort here in the 1520's and for the next 230 years, the area was claimed and fought over alternately by the Spanish, the native Indians, the French, England's Lords Proprietors, Scots, English settlers, and American colonists - so clearly a place in demand.
- The barrier islands of northern Beaufort County are famous for their beautiful, unspoiled, white-sandy shorelines. Spend the day building castles or catching rays at The Sands in Port Royal or Hunting Island State Park, honored as one of the “Top 10 Beaches in America” by Trip Advisor in 2008. The resorts on Harbor Island and Fripp Island offer beauty, tranquility, and privacy for relaxing vacations.
If you're planning a trip to South Carolina then this dialysis center could be an ideal place to have your treatments. Dialysis is coordinated by Stephanie Britton and there are 19 stations with hemo. pd and home dialysis support on offer. The center has TV, air conditioning and all of the usual mod cons with Fresenius 2008K machines. Two to three weeks notice is needed for booking but as with everything we recommend giving yourselves plenty of notice and plan in advance.

Mombasa Dialysis Center is situated just a few kilometers from some of the most visited holiday centers in Africa. The center is sited on a quiet corner of Mombasa Island where the only sounds one can hear are of birds twittering on the beautiful lawn gardens which are exposed to the wonderful tropical sunshine throughout the year. This sounds idyllic for a holiday away.
Mombasa is the second largest city in Kenya right next to the Indian Ocean, and is a tourism hot spot. . Mombassa Dialysis Center offers high quality care combined with a service oriented staff to provide personalized service.
Some of the reasons for the existence of Mombassa Dialysis Center are:

* To create continuous improvements in a kidney patient's quality of life using modern therapies
* To provide, a clean and state-of-the-art dialysis

The patients attending here need to be quite proficient, able to undertake most of their treatment unaided with minimal supervision - and they will need to travel to the main hospital if they need medical intervention.
What I find most interesting is the investment by the centre in telemedicine - the technology allows clinial supervision and support from clinicians at other locations - opening up the opportunities for dialysis in remote areas for many. This intervention will really improve the lives of patients in the Far North of New Zealand.
The centre will be taking people from overseas - but priority will be given to those in the local area - so please, if you are interested in visitng this centre, you must book up well in advance. We've added the centre to our database and it is fully accessible to help you with your research.
