Dedication

This web site is dedicated to the memory of
Valda England

I have had hundreds of lovely emails from people all over the world offering their sympathy and condolences after Val passed away. But this email really touched me and inspired me to write our last holiday story. Jill kindly gave me permission to reproduce the email.

Subject:  THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

Dear Mr. England,

May I first of all send you my heartfelt sympathy for the sad loss of your wife, who, from reading the account of your holiday, sounded such a lovely person.  It is nice to think that you were able to enjoy such a lovely holiday before Mrs. England sadly passed away..

I am writing to thank you and the late Mrs. England so much, for putting your experiences of your holiday on the Internet, because without this, we could not have taken my mother and father-in-law to Cala Galdana in Menorca recently.  After spending months trying to find out about getting oxygen abroad and using the most intellectual dialect for my searches,  I just happened to put in a search for "oxygen in Menorca" and came up with your story.  This was early in the year, and I even printed it out for my family to see, I was so delighted.  I did not
enter your web page again, until today to write this letter of thanks, so you can imagine how upset I felt when I discovered that Mrs. England had passed away.

My mother-in-law (Rita) has around sixteen hours of oxygen per day for emphysema, and is unable to walk any distance, and therefore only able to get around in a wheelchair.  We were always a little apprehensive and frightened about taking Rita on holiday until we read your experiences, which took away a large amount of our anxiety.  I contacted Carburos Metalicos and was able to organise for an oxygen concentrator to be delivered to the villa for use throughout our stay, which has already been delivered when we arrived.  At both airports (Manchester and Mahon), the staff were enormously helpful, and also supplied oxygen for Rita on the plane.  We too travelled with JMC and had a hire car which came with the villa from "Magic of Spain" holidays.  I must say that Cala Galdana is so beautiful, although we found that hill a bit of a struggle at times pushing the wheelchair, but by the end of the holiday, my husband came home with bigger muscles!

Thank you once again for all of your help.  We could not have had such an enjoyable week in Menorca without your sound advice.

Kind regards,
Jill Gosney
