JERSEY, CHANNEL ISLANDS Print
by Muriel Saul

At the beginning of May, I spent a week on the island of Jersey. I had a very enjoyable holiday, made possible because, as a renal patient I was able to dialyse there.

The dialysis centre is situated on a headland at Portelet Bay and was difficult to find the first time. Once inside the small reception area there was a lovely bowl of flowers to greet me, in the main room they have six machines each alongside a very comfortable chair. I was made to feel welcome by the four nurses, who turned out to be very efficient and a jolly crowd.

With fields around, where we could see horses, the time spent dialysing passed quickly, with a snack of tea and toast half way through.

The island is very pretty with lots of sandy beaches and tourist attractions to visit. We did hire a car, which I think is essential for getting to dialysis and seeing the sights. I had a grand holiday and look forward to going again.
