Recent visit in September and it was fantastic, very clean and professional staff. Using fresenius 4008 machines. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Great treatment was given, I would highly recommend!
I had not dialysed abroad before so understandably I was a little anxious. There was no need to worry. I spent a month in Tenerife and had dialysis 3 times a week for 4 weeks. It is an excellent facility and I received the best medical care. Several nurses speak English and all of the staff go the extra mile to make patients feel at ease. I highly recommend this unit.
my mother is the dialysis patient and was nervous about using any dialysis centre other than her normal one in the uk. The dialysis centre was lovely we where a bit worried to start with as we normaly help by helping by wieghing my mother and taking her in and getting her comfy but here we where not allowed to even enter the dialysis unit. We had nothing to worry about they where brilliant, they had a few nurses who spoke english and they did everything they could to make her comfy and relaxed. My mother was so relaxed even her blood pressure came down and now is willing to try dialysis units in other parts of the world so to the nurses and staff at hospiten a very big thank you and hope we see you again one day.
I tried to book myself into dialysis there recently having been about four times now. It has always been a good experience and plenty of accommodation nearby to choose from.
Unfortunately you now need authorisation from your local ccg now if you are coming from the UK or you have to have authorisation from mainland Spain government which makes it all into a buerocratic nightmare. I like to book fairly last minute (about six weeks in advance) as I work self employed part time. There is also the problem if you book months ahead you may not be well enough. I spoke to about six or seven different people now in the UK in the local ccg, the gp etc and nobody has a clue. It seems I have to find another location for my yearly holiday. My husband has just spent 2 weeks in this unit. It was his first time on dialysis out of the UK. Like most he was a little apprehensive beforehand, however any fears quickly disappeared after being in the unit 10 minutes. During the 2 weeks the care was excellent, efficient and friendly. Language was no issue as there was always an English speaking nurse available or translator around. We will certainly by returning.
Highly recommended. I am fairly new to dialysis and was here in December 2012. I have a good but small fistula which has given access problems at my UK dialysis centre. I need not have worried; the nurses @ Hospiten Sur are very professional and had no problem with my fistula; all relatively painfree. Don't worry non-Spanish speakers many of the staff speak English. I look forward to returning in 2013. Maria Frazer 30.12.12
